Murree opened for tourists, traffic plan issued in view of expected snowfall
Tourists have been given conditional permission to enter Malaka Kohsar Murree from today while due to expected snowfall, Rawalpindi Traffic Police has also issued a traffic plan.
According to the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), tourists will be allowed conditional entry into Murree from today and 8,000 vehicles will be allowed to enter the city daily from 5 am to 5 pm. The city has a parking capacity of about 3500 vehicles.
The CTO said that special pickets have been set up at toll plazas and entrances to Murree. Only licensed drivers will be allowed to enter Murree.
He further said that tourists can keep abreast of the radio station 88.6 and traffic police official social media pages.
A spokesman for the traffic police also said that tourists should refrain from taking selfies while standing on the road.
'Keep your car's fuel tank full'
The CT has also instructed to take precaution and keep the fuel tank of your vehicle full while coming to Murree. He said that travel should be chosen keeping in view the severity of weather and rush situation.
Also keep warm clothes and food items in the car in case of severe cold, do not close the car windows completely in case of using heater in the car.
It is to be noted that the Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of snowfall in Murree but it will not be like the recent snowfall. Snowfall and rain is also forecast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and North Balochistan.
