Ireland repelled a late Pakistan fightback to take the first of three women Twenty20 internationals by 11 runs at Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin.
Coming after a 3-0 T20 series win against Zimbabwe last month, the hosts took the same aggression into this latest series as they created a winning start to the current series.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first with Ireland having twenty runs in partnership by Amy Hunter who was then bowled by Nashra Sandhu.
After Fatima Sana removed Gaby Lewis, the hosts would have had one but in the process to have her four wickets, finished off with a catch to remove Rameen Shamim off the bowling of player of the match Orla Prendergast.
Leah Paul fell for 28 to Sadia Iqbal and Laura Delany, who did score debut Ireland six, went on 16 to Sana.
Ireland were seeming to fold in its innings with Rebeccas Stokell being caught on 12 off Diana Baig but they were able to bring the score to be 142.
Pakistan started well off the first innings with Muneeba Ali out when attempting to defend 5 off the bowling of Prendergast- who took 1 of 3 wickets in her first inning.
Jane Maguire marked her 50 th cap by dismissing Gull Feroza lbw for five but the visitors hit back as Sidra Ameen and Aliya Riaz put up double figures before being bowled by Ava Canning and Cara Murray respectively.
The Pakistani middle order then started taking up the battle as Natalia Pervaiz scored 29 with her team getting exactly six and she was dismissed by Prendergast in the afternoon.
Sana added 14 with Shamim on 27 before she also was the second to be dropped by Maguire as the prospects of the Pakistan side drawing back to a winning partnership were also dwindling.
On Friday the teams engage in the 2nd game at the same venue.
